The Kansas City Chiefs are working to regain momentum as the team’s heartbreaking 31-28 Week 5 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-1) dropped them to 2-3 on the season.
Despite the loss, two-time NFL MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes still had himself a productive outing. He finished the game 29-of-41 for 318 yards with a passing touchdown and a pick, while also rushing for a team-high 60 yards and another score on the ground.
The former Texas Tech star is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in sports, and while most know him for slicing up their favorite defense on the weekend, Mahomes is also one of the faces of Adidas. Mahomes signed with the apparel giant in 2017 and released his first signature shoe, the Mahomes 1 Impact FLX, in 2021.
With Mahomes greatly impacting how the position of quarterback is played with his ability to throw on the run and from every arm angle imaginable, his latest reveal shows he plans to impact the apparel world as well.
As shared by Mahomes on Instagram, he and Adidas have launched a new colorway of his Mahomes 2 Impact FLX turf shoes called “Tailgate.”

As seen on Adidas’ site, the colors are a nod to the renowned BBQ scene in both Kansas City where Mahomes plays and his home state of Texas.
“Step into the world of football with the Mahomes 2 Impact FLX Tailgate Turf Training Shoes,” wrote Adidas. “Inspired by the vibrant BBQ culture of Kansas City and Texas, these sneakers are designed to make your tailgate season unforgettable. With brisket stripes and a char-speckled outsole, they capture the essence of a sizzling grill.”
There is a possibility that Mahomes dons them while wearing his pregame outfit ahead of Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions (4-1).
The two NFL powers are scheduled to face off at 8:20 p.m. ET in a game that will air on NBC.
