Clark’s involvement in the tournament last year caused a stir, drawing early morning crowds eager to catch her first shot. “She added so much excitement to the tournament,” Annika Sorenstam told NBC Sports. “We had a lot of people come out, standing on the first tee at 7 a.m., waiting for her to see that first shot. She loves the game of golf, and I’m so glad that she wanted to come back because it brings more people to the game, more people to the tournament—and that’s really what we’re looking for.”
The Fever star’s season has been a rollercoaster. Limited to just 13 games due to recurring soft tissue injuries, Clark last appeared on the court on July 15, right before the WNBA All-Star break, sidelined with a right groin injury. Though she watched from the bench as Indiana Fever advanced to the WNBA semifinals, the league continues to buzz with negotiations over a new collective bargaining agreement, keeping players and fans on edge.

“The response last year was incredible, and we just didn’t really know what to expect,” Sorenstam said. “Now we’re trying to make sure that everybody gets a piece of it and that Caitlin can enjoy herself, feel like she’s having a good time. There are so many young girls out there just hoping to get an autograph, whether it’s on a basketball, a hat, or something else. It’s amazing to see a new demographic coming onto the golf course.”
