🔥Rumors Swirl — Minnesota Lynx Eye Shocking Free-Agent Move From Chicago Sky…P1

The Minnesota Lynx didn’t just compete in 2025 — they dominated. A 34–10 regular season record, the best in the WNBA, and a relentless playoff run that only ended in the semifinals against the Phoenix Mercury. Still, for a franchise built on championships, “almost” isn’t good enough.

This offseason, that could change — and one name is already lighting up front-office discussions across the league: Emma Meesseman.

Yes, that Meesseman — the 6-foot-4 Belgian star who helped lead the New York Liberty to another deep postseason run after returning to the WNBA from three years overseas. Averaging 13.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists, Meesseman proved she hasn’t missed a beat. But with New York’s coaching staff in turmoil following Sandy Brondello’s departure, her future suddenly looks wide open.

And Minnesota might finally get its second chance.

Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve famously said Meesseman made the “wrong choice” when she signed with New York instead of Minnesota before the 2025 season. Now, with the Belgian forward once again entering free agency — and the Lynx still searching for that missing piece beside MVP runner-up Napheesa Collier — the timing couldn’t be better.

Reeve’s system thrives on discipline, defense, and high-IQ ball movement — a perfect fit for Meesseman’s game. Her ability to stretch the floor, create from the post, and facilitate offense from mid-range would take massive pressure off Collier, while freeing Kayla McBride and Courtney Williams to attack from the perimeter.

As ESPN’s Michael Voepel recently noted, Minnesota’s biggest gap isn’t talent — it’s balance. The Lynx need another scoring forward to open up their offensive structure, and Meesseman checks every box: efficient shooter, elite passer, and veteran with championship DNA.

It’s no secret that Minnesota has unfinished business. Their 2024 Finals loss to the Liberty still stings, and their 2025 semifinal exit only deepened the hunger. Adding Meesseman wouldn’t just patch a roster hole — it would rewrite the narrative.

Inside sources say the Lynx are watching New York closely as the Liberty navigate an offseason of uncertainty. With coaching instability and a potential CBA adjustment looming that could loosen salary caps and roster limits, Minnesota might finally have the flexibility to make a high-impact move.

And this one? It could be seismic.

Meesseman, already a WNBA champion (2019) and EuroBasket MVP, brings a level of poise and intelligence that transforms good teams into great ones. Her chemistry with European stars and her calm under playoff pressure would instantly elevate the Lynx’s locker room — not to mention give Collier a co-star she can truly share the floor with.

For now, no official talks have been confirmed. But whispers around the league say Reeve and GM Clare Duwelius are exploring “creative roster scenarios” to make it happen.

If they pull it off, the Lynx could be looking at a 2026 superteam — a perfect blend of experience, versatility, and revenge.

As one insider put it late Friday night:

“The Lynx don’t need to rebuild — they just need one more weapon. And Emma Meesseman might be the one that tips the balance of power.”

The league has been warned. Minnesota’s not done yet — and if Meesseman wears Lynx green next season, the WNBA might have a brand-new favorite to fear.
