From a rickety hoop in the sun-drenched streets of the Caribbean to the national spotlight as NCAA 2022 Player of the Year, Aliyah Boston has always had a vision bigger than the court. Her relentless drive, faith, and family support laid the foundation for a career marked by dominance, resilience, and an unshakable commitment to the game. Now, Boston is channeling that success into a mission that extends far beyond personal accolades — building a legacy that could redefine women’s basketball for generations.
The Indiana Fever star recently partnered with Under Armour in a groundbreaking initiative aimed at expanding access to sports for young athletes and elevating women’s basketball both nationally and globally. “Working with Under Armour is a huge honor,” Boston told reporters. “It means a lot to me because it’s a brand I’ve worn for years, both in cross-training and on the court. I’m thrilled to help continue building and growing the women’s basketball community and to give more young girls access to sports at the grassroots level.”
Boston’s efforts off the court reflect a deep understanding of the influence athletes can wield. During the height of the pandemic, she launched her Instagram series “Beyond Basketball”, where she interviewed current and former female athletes, including LaChina Robinson and Ty Harris, as well as her University of South Carolina coach Dawn Staley. Conversations ranged from on-court tactics to broader social and racial injustices, giving young athletes a platform to speak openly about their experiences and challenges.

Through her partnership with Under Armour, Boston is amplifying these efforts on a global scale. The initiative aims to break down barriers, increase exposure for women’s basketball, and inspire a new generation of players. “I want women’s basketball to be embraced, covered, and valued as much as men’s basketball,” Boston said. “I hope to contribute to that change by continuing to dominate on the court and using my voice to encourage the next generation to play.”
This collaboration is not Boston’s first with Under Armour. During her recent NCAA season, the company designed customized “shirzees” for Boston and her fifteen teammates — short-sleeve garnet shirts styled like jerseys — for fans to celebrate the Gamecocks’ national title. The initiative also included a $50,000 donation to the City of Columbia Parks & Recreation Foundation, supporting local programs and facilities that provide basketball access to youth across Columbia. The contribution underscores Boston’s commitment to creating meaningful, tangible opportunities for the next generation of athletes.
Charece Williams Gee, Under Armour’s Senior Director and Head of Sports Marketing for the Americas, praised Boston’s dedication: “Aliyah is a once-in-a-generation talent whose commitment and determination inspire us all. Partnering with her will expand access to basketball for young women worldwide and continue to elevate women’s sports at every level.”
Looking ahead, Boston is preparing for the 2025-26 WNBA season, following a remarkable college career and anticipated first-round selection in the WNBA Draft. Even as she leaves behind the makeshift basketball courts of her childhood in St. Thomas, her vision remains clear: to uplift women’s basketball, expand opportunities, and build a legacy that outlasts individual victories.
Aliyah Boston is no longer just a player — she is a movement, a voice, and a role model, proving that success on the court can be leveraged into real-world impact. For fans, young athletes, and the WNBA community, Boston’s journey signals that the future of women’s basketball is not just bright — it’s unstoppable.
