The 21-second montage was posted by NBC Sports in May to YouTube, promoting its NBA coverage this season, and with it, insight from Michael Jordan. As highlights show His Airness floating, his public address introduction plays with all the vigor, baritone and jazz with which Steve Scott announces NBA games.

First a public address announcer for the Chicago Bulls during Jordanâs reign turned PA announcer at Madison Square Garden in New York when Carmelo Anthony made it shake while playing for the Knicks, Scott, 64, is lending his voice to the Golden State Warriors as their PA announcer for 2025-26 at Chase Center. Born in Stockton, a Warriors fan and a San Jose State graduate, too, Scott has 26 seasons of experience igniting crowds and tracking NBA play.
His 27th season starts Sunday at Chase Center when the Warriors host their preseason opener.
Scott is also a distinguished radio reporter â he was a three-term president for the New York Press Club and the Illinois News Broadcasters Association â who was at Ground Zero after 9/11 and on location in the Kosovo War. He once interviewed Fidel Castro. When his radio news station in New York shuttered, he relocated to San Francisco, where he anchors the morning slot for KCBS.
Basketball brings him balance and bliss.

âThatâs what makes him happy,â Scottâs wife, Jeanne said. âYou land yourself another really nice job, a morning drive and here we are. PA announcing for the Warriors. I donât know if it could get any better than that.â
