In a candid and surprisingly emotional confession, WNBA star Sophie Cunningham has made it clear what she wants next — a big contract and a cozy house to go with it. The 29-year-old Indiana Fever guard didn’t hold back on the latest episode of her Show Me Something podcast, revealing she’s done with temporary living. “I just want to feel homey and cozy,” she said. “But I’m not decorating anything again until I’ve got a three-year contract in front of me.”
Cunningham’s wish comes at a tense moment in women’s basketball. The WNBA’s collective bargaining agreement expired last week, and for now, no player can sign new deals until the league and players’ union reach a new agreement. It’s a high-stakes waiting game that could reshape the entire landscape of player salaries and endorsements.
As previously reported by OutKick, the WNBPA is demanding a fair share of league revenue — something closer to the NBA’s structure — while the league’s current offer focuses on higher salary caps but keeps profit sharing tied to “performance benchmarks.” Translation: players still don’t get a guaranteed slice of the WNBA’s growing financial pie.
“I thought if we hadn’t reached a deal by October 31st, it’d be a lockout,” Cunningham admitted. “But it’s not. So long as both sides are still negotiating, play goes on.”

For now, Sophie is waiting — and working. Off the court, she’s turned into one of the WNBA’s most marketable personalities, thanks to her fearless energy and a bold brand that fans either love or love to hate. After gaining fame as Caitlin Clark’s fiery “enforcer”, Cunningham has scored endorsement deals with Arby’s, Ring, and Adidas, among others. Her latest Adidas campaign — featuring neon pink “x’tra spicy” sneakers — blew up on social media over the weekend, cementing her status as one of the league’s crossover stars.
On the court, however, things have been tougher. Cunningham’s 2025 season was cut short after she tore her MCL in August, sidelining her just as the Fever made a Cinderella run to the semifinals. She averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds in 30 games, offering a veteran edge to a young roster that battled injuries all year.
Still, her mindset is pure fighter. “I’m just embracing it,” she said. “At the end of the day, I’m blessed to get to dribble a damn basketball for a living. So why would I not pour into my body more than ever?”
Sources inside the Fever locker room say Caitlin Clark wants Cunningham back next season, calling her “a key piece of our chemistry.” But Indiana has to make a move first — and with the CBA still frozen, no offer can hit the table.
For now, Sophie is stuck between rehab sessions and Zillow searches — waiting for the deal that lets her finally unpack those moving boxes.
And when it comes, one thing’s for sure: Sophie Cunningham’s next home won’t just be cozy — it’ll be earned.
