In a social media post Wednesday, Ganus said that it was time for him to say thank you and farewell to a place that has meant a lot to him and his family.

After four incredible years as the head football coach at Moody High School, it’s time for me to say thank you and farewell to a place that has meant the world to me and my family. This community welcomed us with open arms and made us feel at home from day one. We will forever be grateful for the relationships, memories, and support that has made this journey so special. Moody people are some of the best people in the world and I couldn’t be more thankful.
I want to give a special thank you to Dr. Chris Walters for believing in me and giving me my shot. He’s the man behind the scenes that makes Moody so special. His vision is what brought be to 411. and his vision is what will continue to make Moody great.

To the players, coaches, parents, administrators, and fans… there are so many that need to be thanked individually but I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for your commitment, passion, and unwavering support. I’m incredibly proud of what we built together and so thankful we were able to bring a Blue Map to Moody.
Moody will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for four unforgettable years.
Four years ago, Jake Ganus came to Moody High School and immediately raised the standard of our football program and student-athletes. When Coach Ganus arrived, many outside the program believed Moody could not win. With the hard work of Coach Ganus, our coaching staff, and our players, along with the belief he instilled, a new determination took hold. This determination served to push Moody forward and ultimately resulted in the first football state championship in Moody High School history.
Moody High School will forever appreciate the historic accomplishments of Coach Ganus. We are grateful for his four years of leadership, and we know he will continue to uphold hard work and determination in his future endeavors.
As we move ahead, the Moody High School head football coach position will be highly sought after, thanks to the strong culture built within our school and the city of Moody. Multiple successful coaches have already expressed interest in this position, and we look forward to finding the next leader of our football program as we prepare to defend the 5A Football State Championship.
