The vehicle, undergoing high-end modifications by Effortless Motors, was en route from Atlanta to Louisiana when it vanished without a trace.
Effortless Motors reported that the car was picked up on Monday but never arrived at its destination. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the company’s internal systems had been compromised, leading to the vehicle’s unlawful disappearance during transit. The company has since been working closely with law enforcement and federal investigators to recover the vehicle and hold those responsible accountable.
This incident highlights a broader issue plaguing the nation: the rise of cargo thefts linked to a growing black market transportation sector. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has initiated a crackdown on this sector, which includes tens of thousands of migrants who, despite lacking English proficiency, are operating trucks on the nation’s highways. These poorly trained drivers often disregard federal regulations, driving long hours and contributing to an alarming increase in road fatalities.
The surge in cargo thefts is also attributed to the influx of migrants allowed to cross borders and transit airports under the Biden administration. Notably, Alejandro Mayorkas, the former Secretary of Homeland Security, has been a key figure in implementing policies that have facilitated this situation.
A recent example of this issue is the arrest of a ring of Sikh migrants from India in San Bernardino, California. Between March 2021 and June 2025, members of the Singh Organization acquired or fraudulently used legitimate trucking companies to bid on authentic shipping contracts. Once in possession of the freight, primarily electronics and appliances, they diverted and stole the shipments instead of delivering them. The stolen cargo was later distributed through intermediaries or black-market channels, resulting in estimated losses in the millions of dollars.
This pattern of cargo thefts and the involvement of migrants in the black market transportation sector raise serious questions about the effectiveness of current immigration and transportation policies.
