Lead singer of rock band Poison and Butler County native Bret Michaels will perform at halftime during Sunday night’s Steelers game, Michaels and the NFL team announced on Friday.

The Sunday night game between the Steelers and the Green Bay Packers will kick off at 8:20 p.m. at Acrisure Stadium on the North Shore. The team will wear their 1933 throwback jerseys.

In addition to Michaels’ performance, the “Forged in Pittsburgh Origin Game” will also feature a City of Pittsburgh Police Color Guard and the National Anthem performed by the brass section of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, according to a release from the team.

Michaels expressed his excitement in a Facebook video posted Friday. Wearing sunglasses and a Pittsburgh Pirates hat, he said, “My friends, I am so excited to be back in Pittsburgh. It’s going to be nothing but a good time at halftime on NBC Sunday Night Football. In the plaza, we’re bringing a party.”

According to the rocker’s website, he will in fact perform Poison’s hit ‘Nothin’ But A Good Time” at the game.

He also said that, despite being a “true live music musician,” the Bret Michaels Band are in the studio cutting a live track for the event. “For this, we have limited time,” he said. “We’re in the studio cutting a live track and I’m going to be singing live to it.”

According to the video, he will also have “all of our diabetic friends, all of our unbelievable military, active duty and veterans” to the stage, as he is a diabetic and the son of a veteran.

Michaels rose to fame in the 1980s as the front man of rock band Poison, who have sold 30 million records in the United States and sent six singles to the Billboard Top 10, including No. 1 hit “Every Rose Has its Thorn” in 1988-89. “Nothin’ But A Good Time” peaked at No. 6 in 1988. Michaels has been outspoken about his proud roots in Western Pennsylvania for decades.

“Steeler Nation, we’re one big family, let’s rock!” he said in a post on his website.
