The Kansas City Chiefs could be on the verge of another major roster shake-up. According to multiple league sources, one of their wide receivers is expected to draw serious trade interest from an NFC team desperate for help at the position.
While the Chiefs’ offense has continued to find its rhythm under Patrick Mahomes, inconsistency among the receiving corps has become a growing storyline this season. And now, insiders believe that at least one NFC contender — rumored to be in playoff contention but struggling with injuries at wideout — is preparing to make a move for one of Kansas City’s receivers before the deadline.
NFL analyst Ian Rapoport hinted that the player in question could be Skyy Moore or Marquez Valdes-Scantling, both of whom have seen fluctuating roles in recent weeks.
“There’s definite interest from the NFC side,” one source told The Athletic. “The Chiefs have depth and could be willing to listen if the offer fits their long-term plan.”
The Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints are two teams reportedly evaluating trade options at the position, though others — including the Green Bay Packers — are keeping a close eye on Kansas City’s situation.
For the Chiefs, the timing makes sense. Rookie standout Rashee Rice has emerged as a reliable target, while newly signed Hollywood Brown continues to build chemistry with Mahomes. That makes one of the team’s veteran receivers potentially expendable — especially with contract space and future draft picks in mind.
One AFC executive told reporters:
“If Kansas City wants to reload for another Super Bowl run, moving a receiver for a high-value pick could be smart. It’s business, not personal.”
