Los Angeles Dodgers utility player Tommy Edman will undergo surgery on his right ankle next week, according to GM Brandon Gomes.
Gomes said Edman is likely to be ready for spring training after the surgery.
Edman has had problems with his right ankle since midway through the 2024 season while playing for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was traded to the Dodgers in July and eventually won the National League Championship Series (NLCS) MVP award.
Despite batting just .143 in seven games in the World Series this year, Edman still made key defensive plays at second and center field, helping the team successfully defend the championship.
In terms of contract, Edman signed a five-year, $74 million deal with the Dodgers last season.
