Do you trust the $170 million Steelers defense that Art Rooney II keeps letting Mike Tomlin run—and brag about? The same unit that allowed more rushing yards to a visiting team than any Steelers defense in 50 years, even though the Buffalo Bills were missing both starting tackles and had been taken apart by the Houston Texans just 10 days earlier?
Or do you go with the pop-gun offense? The one that had just 75 total yards a minute into the fourth quarter against a defense that’s objectively bad. The one that keeps handing off to a scat-back on 3rd-and-long and cannot complete a grown-up NFL pass.
And yes, it’s run by Arthur Smith, who GM Omar Khan praised for doing “a really good job” last season… when the offense:
- Never scored an opening-drive touchdown
- Had the NFL’s worst first-down attack
- Embarrassed itself in a playoff game
- Posted the fourth-worst red zone offense
