In a surprising but no less touching development, MLB star Alex Bregman – the former soul of the Houston Astros – has expressed his desire to return to the team he once sacrificed and won with. The news comes as Bregman is facing the biggest choice of his career: should he continue with the Boston RedSox or return to the place where he made his name.
Currently, Bregman is playing for the Boston Red Sox with a 3-year contract worth 120 million USD, with an opt-out clause after the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
In the 2025 season, he batted about .273 with 18 home runs and 62 RBI – still a remarkable number for a player who has been injured.

However, a right quadriceps strain has kept him out since May.
While recovering, Bregman has been diligently working on his recovery every day, saying:
“I’m running up … the ultrasound showed it is doing really well and healing the way we wanted it to. So just continuing the progression…”
Before moving to Boston, Bregman spent his entire senior career with the Houston Astros from 2016 to 2024 – where he won two World Series championships and became a team icon.
According to sources, Astros management has given the green light to the possibility of a reunion:
“GM Dana Brown opens up on re-engaging with Alex Bregman: Door ‘cracked’ open.”
A prominent article in the Houston Chronicle stated:
“One way to revive Astros’ dynasty? Engineer star reunion with Alex Bregman.”

Bregman’s desire isn’t just to return to his old team – it’s to return to a place where he once felt “home.” Even though he’s in Boston, he still has a part of him that yearns to once again contribute to the Astros, where he built his name and memories.
However, the road back to Houston won’t be easy:
Financial issues: The Astros will need to consider their budget, especially since they’ve already prepared for the future by clearing some big contracts.
Position and roster issues: Bregman’s return could require the Astros to adjust their infield personnel – a big change.
Bregman’s own desire: Will he accept a shorter contract, or sacrifice some of his income just to return “to his old home”?
In a rare comment about the future, Bregman said:
“I feel like I still have so much to give … and I know where I came from. But right now I’m focused on getting healthy and finishing strong.”
Although he hasn’t yet publicly stated “again in Houston,” the statement seems to open the door of hope for Astros fans.
The moments when Bregman wore an Astros jersey, celebrating championships with his teammates, have become beautiful memories for many people. His departure and now the rumors of his return have made many fans excited.

A source said: Bregman used to “breathe” the Houston air every time he played at Fenway Park – and always reminded himself that “it would be special to come back.”
For him himself – this is not simply a contract. It is where he grew up, where he “grew up with the team”, where the brilliant championship nights and the challenges made him the man he is today.
The conversation between Bregman and the Astros may not be over – but it is already underway. The question is no longer “if,” but “when and how.” He is recovering, he is coming back strong – and if the final picture is wearing an Astros jersey again, it will be a beautiful, emotional, memorable story.
“I still have so much to give … I know where I came from.” – Alex Bregman
Let’s wait and see – the new season could bring a dramatic and emotional reunion between Alex Bregman and the Houston Astros.
