In a quiet press conference room after the Houston Astros closed out the 2025 season, Alex Bregman sat amid the flashbulbs and the sound of a tape recorder, his face both calm and filled with something unspoken. The player who was once a symbol of a golden era of the Astros finally admitted the feelings that fans have been waiting for all this time:
“I still want to come back one day – and finish my career in Houston,”he said, his voice breaking amid applause from local reporters.

Bregman has not worn an Astros jersey since the beginning of the season, but in every word, people still hear the old love that has not faded. He mentioned Houston as a part of his heart, the place where he grew up to be a star, won titles, and created many memories with his teammates.
“I spent the best days of my life at Minute Maid Park,” he shared.
“I know every corner of the field, every sound there. And if I had the chance… I would like to finish my journey in that jersey.”
During the Astros’ golden years, Bregman was the soul of the team – a cool warrior in third base who never accepted defeat. He, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa and Yordan Álvarez, formed a “power quartet” that the entire MLB feared. Now, with the season over, Bregman chooses to look back – gently, honestly, and with nostalgia.
Although he is no longer in the starting lineup, Bregman says he still watches every Astros game like a big brother. Every home run, every victory makes him smile, because “a piece of my heart is still there.”

He added:
“When I see those guys play, I don’t feel any regret. I just feel grateful to have been a part of that journey. The Astros have given me everything – titles, opportunities, and the love of the fans.”
That statement moved many fans. Many called this moment Bregman’s “public love letter to Houston” – a simple but heartfelt message from someone who played for the team for nearly a decade.
After the press conference, thousands of Astros fans shared a photo of Bregman in orange on social media – with the caption: “Once an Astro, always an Astro.”
A post of his on Instagram with just three words “See you soon, Houston” also made the online community explode with more than a million likes in a few hours.
Bregman insists he has no immediate plans to retire, but revealed that if he had the choice, he would like to take his final swing at Minute Maid Park.
“I don’t know what the future holds. But I do know one thing: if I could choose a place to say goodbye to baseball, it would be Houston.”

For many, Bregman’s statement was more than a sharing, it was a promise. He may have left the Astros, but his love for the team and the city still burns brightly – like a flame that has never been extinguished.
And who knows? Maybe one day, Alex Bregman – who once proudly wore the number 2 – will walk out of the Minute Maid Park tunnel to the familiar cheers of Houston fans, to close his story – right where it began.
