TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays might just be getting started this offseason. Kyle Tucker, the top player in this winter’s free-agent class, visited the Blue Jays’ player development complex in Dunedin, Florida, on Wednesday, a source told MLB.com.
Just one day after announcing their seven-year, $210 million deal with ace pitcher Dylan Cease, the Blue Jays are already making waves again. Tucker, who resides nearby in Tampa, made the visit easy logistically, but it signals Toronto’s serious interest in securing the 28-year-old outfielder, who could command a contract exceeding $300 million.
The team also remains interested in reuniting with Bo Bichette. While Bichette has spent nearly a decade with Toronto and requires no formal tour, Tucker’s visit recalls the Blue Jays’ pursuit of Shohei Ohtani two offseasons ago — including a guided tour of the complex. Although this pursuit won’t have the same drama, the stakes remain high.
Fresh off a thrilling World Series run that extended to extra innings in Game 7 against the Dodgers, the Blue Jays are clearly building momentum. The offseason began with surprise moves, including Shane Bieber picking up his $16 million player option and landing right-hander Cody Ponce on a three-year, $30 million deal. Ponce returns from four seasons in Japan and Korea, bolstering a rotation already considered one of the best and deepest in baseball.
Yet, Toronto still needs a significant offensive addition. Tucker’s potential fit with the Blue Jays is evident. His skills embody what has come to define “Blue Jays baseball” — the dynamic, high-energy approach the team has developed since the 2025 season. For fans and management alike, Tucker’s visit is a clear signal that Toronto is prepared to compete at the highest level once again.
