New York, NY – A generational war is brewing at the New York Yankees as CEO Brian Cashman has fired back at the criticisms of two legends, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez. The incident began when Jeter and A-Rod both criticized Cashman’s team-building strategy, especially in developing young players and managing the budget.

Derek Jeter, the legendary Yankees captain, said in a recent interview that the team needs to focus on developing and retaining young talent, rather than relying solely on big contracts. Alex Rodriguez, Jeter’s former teammate and one of the most prominent players in the team’s history, also expressed a similar sentiment, saying the Yankees need to change their approach to building their team.
In response to these criticisms, Brian Cashman did not hesitate to speak out. In a press conference, he said: “We are always evaluating and adjusting our strategy to suit the actual situation. Developing young players is important, but we also need to make strategic decisions to maintain the team’s competitiveness.”

Although the 2025 season ended without a World Series trophy, the New York Yankees still maintained their position in MLB. With promising young players like Anthony Volpe and Jasson Dominguez, the team is aiming to build a strong and sustainable roster in the future.
However, the conflict between legends and the team’s management shows that, even with legends, different views can still lead to heated debates. Yankees fans are waiting for the next decisions from the management to see which direction the team will go next season.
