The Chicago Sky’s 2025 WNBA campaign will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. After a season marred by losses and unmet expectations, the team finished with a dismal 10-34 record, tying the Dallas Wings for the league’s worst. Angel Reese, the 6-foot-3 forward and cornerstone of the Sky, has been the lone bright spot amid the turmoil. In her second professional season, Reese averaged 14.7 points on 45.8% shooting, led the league with 12.6 rebounds, and added 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals in just over 31 minutes per game. On Monday, the Sky officially announced the addition of Latricia Trammell as a new assistant coach, a decision that has ignited buzz across the league. Trammell, 57, brings a wealth of WNBA experience, having previously served as an assistant with the Los Angeles Sparks and as head coach of the Dallas Wings from 2023 to 2024. Her tenure with the Wings was marked by success, including a Coach of the Year runner-up finish and a playoff appearance in her first season.
“Join us in welcoming @coachtrammell to the Sky coaching staff as our new assistant coach! 🩵💛” the Sky posted on Instagram, signaling optimism that Trammell’s expertise could help turn the franchise around. Trammell replaces Courtney Paris, per the Chicago Sun-Times, and brings decades of experience spanning high school, college, and professional basketball. A Seminole State College Hall of Famer, Trammell’s track record includes developing elite talent at every level, a skill the Sky hope will unlock Angel Reese’s full potential.
“Latricia’s three decades of coaching experience and impressive resume make her a thrilling addition to the staff,” Marsh said on Monday. “She’s produced impressive results at every level of her career and will be key in elevating the Sky.”
With Reese remaining the undisputed centerpiece of the franchise, the Sky’s decision to bolster their coaching ranks underscores a commitment to building around her talent.
