The Chicago Sky have made a major move in their coaching ranks, announcing Monday that Latricia Trammell has joined the team as an assistant to head coach Tyler Marsh. Trammell, a veteran of the WNBA with decades of coaching experience, brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success to a Sky organization eager to rebound after consecutive disappointing seasons.
Trammell, 57, served as head coach of the Dallas Wings for two seasons, leading the team to a franchise-best 22 victories in 2023. Despite her accomplishments, she was let go following the 2024 season and spent 2025 as a special assistant with the Los Angeles Sparks. Her journey back into a prominent coaching role with the Sky signals the franchise’s determination to build a staff capable of developing talent and competing at the highest level.

“Latricia’s three decades of coaching experience and impressive résumé make her a thrilling addition to the staff,” Marsh said in a statement. “She’s produced impressive results at every level of her career and will be key in elevating the Sky.” Trammell becomes the second assistant on Marsh’s staff with prior WNBA head coaching experience, joining Tanisha Wright, former head coach of the Atlanta Dream and five-time All-Defense honoree as a player. Together, they bring a mix of defensive expertise, player development, and leadership that the Sky hope will translate into wins.
Trammell will replace Courtney Paris, who spent one season on Marsh’s staff focusing on post development. Paris previously worked under Trammell with the Wings, and her departure underscores the franchise’s desire for fresh approaches as it rebuilds around star forward Angel Reese. General manager Jeff Pagliocca emphasized that Trammell’s defensive acumen is highly valued, complementing Marsh’s strengths in offensive scheming and player development.

The Sky’s roster continues to revolve around Reese, who remains the team’s cornerstone. Alongside her are center Kamilla Cardoso, forward Maddy Westbeld, and guard Hailey Van Lith. Veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot has indicated she will return next season, and the Sky plan to bring in Slovenian wing Ajsa Sivka, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 draft. With the No. 5 pick in the upcoming 2026 draft, the Sky are positioning themselves for a critical offseason aimed at reshaping the team into a contender.
As the Sky enter 2026, the combination of Marsh’s offensive vision, Trammell’s defensive strategy, and Reese’s dominant presence on the court could provide the spark the franchise needs. Fans are already speculating how Trammell’s leadership will impact the development of young players and whether this high-profile addition to the coaching staff will translate into tangible success on the scoreboard. One thing is clear: the Sky are signaling they are ready to shake things up, and the WNBA will be watching closely.
