According to sources at Dodgers Nation, the Los Angeles Dodgers are considering re-signing Cody Bellinger, a former MVP and a familiar face in the team’s blue jersey.
The situation makes sense: The Dodgers have a foreign-arms void ahead of next season, with Michael Conforto likely not returning.
They need someone versatile and defensively sound, and Bellinger with his experience, ability to play multiple positions, and history of success in LA is seen as a suitable option.
As Jeff Passan (ESPN) cited in the report, the Dodgers “have expressed interest” in Bellinger while considering the free market.
He was a key player for the team when he first entered MLB: he won NL Rookie of the Year in 2017 and NL MVP in 2019.
The Dodgers are being cautious: according to the Los Angeles Times, the team intends to retain flexibility rather than overpay for a long-term contract.

Rather than gamble on a blockbuster contract, they may see Bellinger as a safe and effective solution a “return” that has both practical and nostalgic value.
As for Bellinger, he is a free agent who decided to decline his option to continue with the New York Yankees.
He performed very well last season (.272 AVG, 29 home runs) with the Yankees.
Many Dodgers fans seem to support the idea of a reunion: according to a poll from Dodgers Nation, more than 58% of participants want Bellinger back at his old home.
With Bellinger, the Dodgers could add experience, positional flexibility, and nostalgia. But the final decision will depend on salary, contract length, and risk assessment: Are the team willing to “buy back memories” from the past, or keep the priority for potential future options?
