TORONTO — The atmosphere at Rogers Centre was electric last night. After a tense season-long journey, the Toronto Blue Jays were officially crowned 2025 AL East champions — ending years of dominance by the region’s “big guys” and sending a defiant message to MLB: “Toronto is ready for October!”
In a pivotal game against the New York Yankees, the Blue Jays put on a flawless performance to close out the regular season with a 7–3 victory. On the pitching mound, ace Kevin Gausman continued his solid form, pitching seven innings, allowing just two runs and recording nine strikeouts, while the Toronto lineup fired homers from Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, and rookie star Alejandro Kirk.
With this victory, the Blue Jays raised their season record to 98-64, officially surpassing the Baltimore Orioles to take the top spot in the AL East. This is the first time since 2015 that Toronto has won the division, opening a postseason full of expectations.
Coach Schneider declared: “We are ready for the October trophy”
Immediately after the team raised the championship flag on the field, coach John Schneider gave a spirited speech to the media and tens of thousands of fans celebrating in the stands.
“We are ready to bring the October trophy home to Toronto fans,” Schneider affirmed. “The whole team has fought tirelessly all season. But this is just the beginning. We know we can go further.”
This statement immediately took social media by storm, with a series of excited comments from fans. The hashtags #OctoberReady and #BringItHome quickly climbed to the top trending in Canada.
It has been a tough season for the Blue Jays. After a shaky start in April, the team was at times behind the Yankees and Orioles. However, since mid-June, Toronto has transformed dramatically with consistent pitching, a solid bullpen, and an explosive offense.
Notably, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had an MVP-caliber season with 44 home runs and 119 RBI, while Bo Bichette returned to his best form after injury, creating the most formidable offensive duo in the AL East. The rotation of Gausman, José Berríos, and Yusei Kikuchi has become a solid wall, helping Toronto dominate the late season.
With the AL East championship, the Blue Jays have home field advantage in the upcoming Divisional Series. This will be the third time in five years that the team has been in the postseason, but this time, the atmosphere in Toronto is different: it is real belief.
“We don’t just want to be present — we want to dominate,” Guerrero Jr. said in celebration. “Toronto deserves a World Series. And this year, we have the right team to do it.”
From their late-season performances to John Schneider’s bold declaration, the Blue Jays sent a clear message: “Get ready — Toronto is going to be an October storm.”
After 30 years of waiting since winning the 1993 World Series, Blue Jays fans can dream of glory again. And if their current form continues, no one wants to face this team in the 2025 postseason.
