Since the start of the 2025 season, Kiké Hernández has been suffering from pain in his left elbow, but he has continued to play his best for the Los Angeles Dodgers. According to him, around May, he tore his extensor tendon in his elbow, but because he wanted to continue playing — especially when the team was aiming for a championship — he continued to “fight” on the field.

The injury gradually became more serious: the extensor tendon was separated from the bone, forcing Hernández to undergo surgery to “repair” it — he revealed this on Instagram.
The sad consequence is that Kiké will not be able to participate in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, a tournament in which he planned to represent Puerto Rico.
He wrote: treatment and rehabilitation will not allow him to return to international competition at that time.
Hernández only played 93 games in the 2025 season due to injuries, with a not-so-stellar record (.203 AVG, 10 home runs, 35 RBI), but his role in the Dodgers’ postseason journey was crucial: he contributed 16 hits to help the team win the World Series.
Currently, he has not given a timeline for his return, leaving fans and teams to wait for further announcements.
