Houston — A day that Astros fans thought belonged to their darkest memories — 2025, when the team finished its first season since 2016 without making the Playoffs — has now become the moment of a legendary revival. Shocking news from multiple official sources confirms: Justin Verlander will return to the roof that helped him reach the pinnacle of glory, in a deal that could completely change the landscape of the 2026 season.
With nearly 20 years of experience in MLB, three Cy Young Awards, and two World Series championships with the Astros, Verlander was once the soul of Houston’s lineup during its glory period. However, shoulder and neck injuries in the 2024-2025 season caused him to lose his form, ending with a 5.48 ERA and being removed from the Playoffs roster.
Still, at 42, Verlander is confident he hasn’t “taken off the gloves” yet:
