The 2025 MLB season will be remembered not only for the intense playoff races and breakout performances but also for the legendary power displays of Cal Raleigh. The Mariners’ star catcher has delivered a sequence of home runs so iconic that they’ve transformed him from a rising talent into a franchise icon. Among these, four in particular stand out for their historical significance and dramatic impact.

The first of these came in late August when Raleigh blasted home runs number 48 and 49 in a single game against the Oakland Athletics. By reaching 49 homers, Raleigh became the first catcher in MLB history to approach the 50-home-run mark in a single season, surpassing the previous record held by Salvador Perez. The crowd erupted in Seattle’s T-Mobile Park as the team’s young slugger showcased a combination of raw power and timing that few catchers in history have displayed.
September 16 saw Raleigh hit two more monumental home runs against the Kansas City Royals. His first of the night, the 55th homer of the season, broke the long-standing single-season record for switch-hitters, previously held by Mickey Mantle. Moments later, Raleigh’s second blast tied the Mariners’ franchise record of 56 homers, originally set by Ken Griffey Jr. Fans flooded social media with awe, recognizing the magnitude of these achievements.
Not stopping there, Raleigh continued to dominate. He hit his 57th homer shortly after, taking sole possession of the Mariners’ single-season home run leaderboard. The power, timing, and consistency were remarkable for any player, but especially for a catcher — a position historically known more for defense than slugging.
The fourth and most dramatic milestone came on September 25. In a 9–2 victory over the Colorado Rockies, Raleigh launched his 60th home run of the season, a historic achievement that made him the first catcher ever to reach that mark and only the seventh player in MLB history to do so. This swing not only broke records but also galvanized the Mariners’ fan base and reinforced the team’s standing in the league.

Each of these four home runs carried tremendous weight. They shattered positional and franchise records, redefined expectations for catchers in the modern game, and positioned Raleigh as a central figure in Seattle’s push for postseason success. Beyond statistics, these moments showcased Raleigh’s ability to perform under pressure, with precision and power, making him an unforgettable player for the Mariners’ faithful.
Cal Raleigh’s 2025 season is a testament to talent, work ethic, and the thrill of baseball’s grandest moments. With his remarkable power and clutch performances, he has not only rewritten history but also ensured that his name will be remembered as one of the greatest in Mariners lore.
