NEW YORK, NY — A shocking incident occurred at a Louis Vuitton store in Manhattan when employees refused to let a casually dressed man into the store, mocking him for not being “stylish enough.” However, 48 hours later, when the man’s true identity was revealed, the entire store was stunned.

The man who was refused was none other than Austin Wells, a catcher for the New York Yankees who has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) since 2023. Wells, who is currently on a post-season break, decided to visit the Louis Vuitton store to shop. However, with his casual attire, he was refused and mocked by employees there.
“We don’t cater to people who don’t have a sense of style,” an employee told Wells when he tried to enter the store.
After the incident, Wells shared his experience on social media, causing outrage among the online community. “It’s unbelievable that a brand like Louis Vuitton would treat a customer like this,” he wrote.

48 hours later, after information about Wells’ true identity spread, the Louis Vuitton store had to apologize. “We deeply regret the incident and apologize to Austin Wells for the inappropriate treatment. We have launched an investigation and will take appropriate action,” a Louis Vuitton representative said.
The incident has attracted widespread attention and has led many to question how luxury brands treat customers. Many believe that judging customers based on their clothes alone is discriminatory and disrespectful.

Austin Wells, after the incident, shared that he did not want this incident to become noisy, but he hoped it would serve as a lesson for big brands on how to treat customers.
“I just want to be treated as a human being, not because of who I am but because I am a customer,” Wells shared.
This incident has caused the online community and sports fans to speak out strongly, asking big brands to reconsider how they serve and treat their customers.
