After eight seasons in Los Angeles, Max Muncy isn’t ready to hang up his cleats — and he wants to do so wearing Dodger blue. The veteran third baseman recently confirmed what many fans suspected: his goal is to retire with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“Obviously I’m hoping the option is turned into something a little more longer term,” Muncy admitted. “I think my relationship with the Dodgers… if I go out there and I play well, I think we can make it happen.”

That possibility seems real. The Dodgers recently exercised his club option for 2026, bringing him back for at least one more season. Muncy didn’t hide his gratitude: “To get another year with them … really means a lot to me.”
Still, Muncy — who turns 35 in August — knows nothing is guaranteed. He emphasized that longevity depends on what he does every day: “How can I get better today? … try to keep my body healthy.”
Despite ups and downs at the plate and in the field over recent seasons, Muncy has shown flashes of being the hitter that made him a two‑time All-Star and reliable middle-of-the-order bat. That versatility and resilience may ultimately earn him a farewell tour as one of the club’s longtime stalwarts.
For now, the message from Muncy is clear: he still believes he has “several big years” left — and that he wants them all in Los Angeles.
