PITTSBURGH, Pa. — It’s not often an NFL quarterback has to use a silent count in his own stadium — but Aaron Rodgers says that’s exactly what happened during the Packers’ Week 8 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
And the reason why? Packers fans were just that loud.
“Packers fans travel really well,” Rodgers said after the game. “First time in a while I used a silent count for a home game. That’s a credit to those Packer fans.”
Even in a tough loss, Rodgers couldn’t help but praise the Green Bay faithful for turning Acrisure Stadium into a sea of green and gold. From kickoff to the final whistle, chants of “Go Pack Go!” echoed through the stands — loud enough to throw off the Steelers’ rhythm and even drown out the home crowd.
Reporters in the press box confirmed it: at multiple points in the game, Pittsburgh’s offense was the quieter side. Rodgers, no stranger to road noise after nearly two decades in the league, said he’d never quite experienced anything like it.
“You expect that kind of noise at Lambeau,” he added. “But to hear it that loud in Pittsburgh? That’s special.”
For Packers fans, it was validation — proof that Green Bay’s legendary fanbase really does show up everywhere. From London to Las Vegas, and now Pittsburgh, the “Cheeseheads” have once again proved they travel better than almost anyone in sports.
Social media lit up with reactions after Rodgers’ comments went viral. One post on X (formerly Twitter) read:
“When Aaron Rodgers calls it a ‘home game’ on the road… you know Packers fans took over.”
Another fan wrote:
“We don’t just travel — we relocate the stadium.”
Despite the loss, Rodgers’ respect for the fans was unmistakable. And while the scoreboard didn’t go Green Bay’s way, the noise definitely did.
The Packers might’ve left Pittsburgh without a win, but their fans? They walked out as MVPs of the night.
