Former NFL superstar Antonio Brown has officially been extradited from Dubai to the United States, where he faces a second-degree attempted murder charge after a shocking shooting incident outside a Miami event earlier this year.

According to Miami-Dade police, the 37-year-old former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver allegedly fired two shots at a man identified as Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu during a heated altercation on May 16, 2025. One bullet reportedly grazed the victim’s neck before Brown fled the scene.
Witnesses claim the confrontation began over a dispute involving access at a celebrity boxing event. The argument escalated rapidly, and investigators allege Brown grabbed a security guard’s handgun before firing it in anger. Nantambu was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, but the incident triggered a nationwide warrant for Brown’s arrest.
By the time police arrived, Brown had vanished. Flight records revealed he left the U.S. for Dubai just 48 hours after the shooting, sparking a months-long manhunt. The ex-NFL wideout was finally detained overseas last week and returned to Miami on November 6 under heavy U.S. Marshal escort.
Now back on American soil, Brown has been booked into Miami-Dade County Jail, where he awaits his first court appearance. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison for attempted murder with a firearm.
This latest twist marks a devastating chapter in the dramatic downfall of a player once considered one of the NFL’s brightest stars. Brown, a seven-time Pro Bowler, built his legacy as one of the league’s most dominant receivers with the Steelers before winning a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers alongside Tom Brady.
However, since leaving the league, his name has become synonymous with controversy — from erratic social media rants and legal disputes to public outbursts that raised serious questions about his mental health.
Brown’s attorney insists his client is innocent, claiming the “truth has been misrepresented” and that “Brown intends to fight the charges vigorously.”
But for many fans, the shocking sight of Antonio Brown — once celebrated for his highlight-reel catches — now in handcuffs on an attempted murder charge, is the clearest sign yet of a career and a life spiraling completely out of control.
