A comple manhunt has been underway to find the alleged killer, with officials offering a reward of $100,000 for information leading to his arrest. Here is everything we know so far, after the FBI’s latest press conference.
Who is Tyler Robinson?
Tyler Robinson, 22, from Utah, has been remanded in custody.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox revealed on Friday that a member of the suspect’s family told investigators that Tyler Robinson had become “more political” in recent years.
He said a family member recalled a recent incident in which Robinson came to dinner before September 10 and mentioned Charlie Kirk was coming to Utah Valley University. The suspect talked about why he “didn’t like him and the viewpoints he had”.
Robinson had told a family member that “Kirk was full of hate and spreading hate”, according to Cox.
How did he ‘confess’?
Mr Cox told the press that a family member of Tyler Robinson reached out to a family friend, who then contacted a Sheriff with information that the 22-year-old had implied he had committed the shooting.
And according to CNN, the alleged shooter confessed to his dad that he was the shooter. Trump said that the suspect was handed in by his father.
The Utah governor praised the family members of the suspect, who “did the right thing” by handing the Robinson to authorities.
“I especially want to thank the family of Charlie Kirk,” the governor told the news conference, adding: “I want us to be thinking of them as we bring justice to this case.”
Where is Tyler Robinson from?
The dad of suspect, Matt Robinson, is reportedly a 27-year veteran of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, according to reports. His mum, Amber Robinson, reportedly worked as a care worker.
The accused shooter is said to reside in a six-bedroom home valued at $600,000 in Washington, Utah – approximately 260 miles south of the shooting scene, the Daily Mail reports.
