Chicago — Before the highly anticipated game at Wrigley Field on September 23, a warm and meaningful moment took place right on the baseball stage. Nuveen, a longtime partner of the Chicago Cubs, donated $10,000 to the Cubs Scholars program, a special scholarship fund that supports talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Along with the presentation ceremony, the team also took the time to honor Pete Crow-Armstrong (PCA) — a promising young player who is the doubles leader this season. PCA received a commemorative plaque right on the field, to the enthusiastic applause of Cubs fans.
PCA, at a very young age, has demonstrated remarkable maturity, becoming one of the biggest bright spots in the Cubs’ 2025 lineup. With his speed, technique and tenacious competitive spirit, he continuously brought home important doubles, contributing to shaping many important wins for the Cubs.
The $10,000 Nuveen donated last night is part of the company’s long-term commitment to the Chicago community. The Cubs Scholars program is not only a scholarship, but also opens up opportunities for students to participate in mentoring, career orientation and connect with successful examples in sports and in life.
A Nuveen representative shared:
“Every hit, every achievement on the field can inspire off the field. We believe that the success of the Cubs should go hand in hand with the development of the younger generation of Chicago.”
The moment PCA stood next to the $10,000 check was not only a celebration of an individual player, but also a powerful image of the connection between sports and community. The Cubs, with Nuveen on board, are proving that winning is not just measured by points, but also by the positive impact on the next generation.
Three rounds of applause for PCA — and for Cubs Scholars. The season is still unfinished, but the legacy that PCA and the Cubs leave today goes far beyond the statistics on the field.
