Toronto – Not the Yankees. Not the Dodgers. The Toronto Blue Jays are the center of baseball right now, as both Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer have been officially announced by MLB as two of the final candidates for the 2025 Hank Aaron Award – the prestigious title honoring the best offensive star in each league.

And this isn’t just good news — it’s a sweet civil war between two icons that is returning the Blue Jays to their status as a top offensive force in Major League.

Guerrero Jr., Toronto’s “hitting machine,” is having what has been called a “rebirth” season — his .317 batting average, 45 home runs and 126 RBIs, leading the American League in nearly every major offensive metric. His every swing now resonates throughout Rogers Centre, reminiscent of the legendary Hank Aaron for whom the award is named.

George Springer, on the other hand, the big brother in the locker room, brings tenacity, grit, and winning DNA. At 36, Springer still plays like he’s in his fifth year of his career, with an OBP above .380, 28 home runs, and countless saves in crucial moments. He’s not just the “leader of the lineup,” but the spiritual heart of the team.

“It’s special to have two guys on this list who both wore Blue Jays uniforms,” said head coach John Schneider. “It speaks to the strength of our team — and the belief that Toronto can reach the top.”

No one calls the Blue Jays a “young rebuilding team” anymore. With Guerrero Jr. With Springer in full swing and the Canadiens back in full swing, the Canadiens are back to what they’ve been craving since 2015: a blistering offense ready to challenge the league.

During the 2025 season, Toronto finished second in the AL in runs scored, third in OPS, and boasted a slugging percentage of .470. Both Guerrero and Springer contributed to that number – a testament to the dominance of the offensive duo fans jokingly call “The Northern Firestorm.”

On social media, the debate rages: who is truly more deserving of the Hank Aaron Award?
Guerrero fan asserts: “No one can stop Vladdy Jr. this year – he’s the soul of Toronto!”

Meanwhile, Springer fans countered: “If we talk about real value – about spirit, experience and clutch moments – Springer is the MVP in the hearts of every Jays fan.”

In front of the press, both stars refused to talk about “internal competition”. Guerrero Jr. just smiled when asked about the possibility of winning the award:

“If I win, it’s because of my teammates. If Springer wins, I’ll be the first one to clap.”

Springer responded with a calm smile:
“I’m just proud that Toronto is mentioned twice on the list. It means we’re on the right track.”

The Hank Aaron Award honors not only offensive achievements, but also sportsmanship, perseverance and character — qualities that both Guerrero Jr. and Springer clearly demonstrate.

For Toronto fans, the final result probably doesn’t matter too much anymore. Because no matter who was named, the Blue Jays won — with pride, respect, and a team that is slowly rising to the elite ranks of MLB.

As one fan wrote on X (Twitter):
“Not Aaron Judge, not Ohtani. This season, Toronto is where the true spirit of Hank Aaron is — courage, strength, and undying belief.”
