Charlie Kirk, the recently assassinated conservative activist, is flown from Utah to his home in Arizona on Vice President Vance’s Air Force Two.
Vice President JD Vance arrived at the airport in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 11 to join Charlie Kirk’s casket on Air Force Two. Vance’s plane will take Kirk to his home in Phoenix, Arizona.
Officials confirmed that members of Kirk’s family and several of his friends will be on the flight with Vice President Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance.
Vice President Vance previously praised Kirk as a good friend, recalling how Kirk campaigned “publicly and privately” to get Republican Donald Trump to pick him as his running mate last year.
“A lot of the success we’ve had in this administration is due to Kirk’s ability to organize and rally. He not only helped us win the 2024 election, but he also helped appoint people across the entire administration,” Vance said.
Sixteen Republican congressmen also wrote to House Speaker Mike Johnson on September 11, calling for a statue of Kirk to be erected on Capitol Hill. “This is a lasting tribute to his career, courage, and sacrifice. It is also a reminder that violence cannot be used to resolve political differences and that the fight for truth must continue,” the lawmakers wrote.
