In early September, The Cut magazine announced that Elon Musk’s eldest child would be one of the covers of its new issue. She gave an in-depth interview about her childhood, current life, and future plans. The model also discussed her conflict with her father, his past discriminatory comments about the transgender community, and her child’s gender.

Born in 2004 with the real name Xavier Alexander Musk, she came out as transgender at the age of 16. Vivian is the eldest of Elon Musk’s 14 children, with a twin brother. Her mother is Justine Wilson, a Canadian novelist and Musk’s first wife. The couple have six children together. Two years before Vivian was born, they welcomed their first son, who died at 10 weeks old. In 2008, Elon Musk and Justine divorced, sharing custody of the remaining five children.

At the age of 18, the conflict between Vivian and her father became increasingly tense. In 2022, the model filed a petition asking the court to change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson, recognizing her gender as female. In the petition, she said she no longer lived with her father and did not want to maintain a relationship with Elon Musk in any form.
Vivian loves learning many languages, speaking French, Korean, Japanese, Spanish and Chinese. She briefly attended university in Quebec (Canada) to practice French – a common language in that state. She soon found life there boring, so she transferred to Temple University in Tokyo because she wanted to practice Japanese. After a year and a half, the beauty dropped out because she didn’t like living alone. In early 2024, she returned to Los Angeles to live with her mother.
As the daughter of one of the world’s richest men, Vivian is still worried about money, the magazine said. She said she hopes to attend a community college in the fall to continue her language studies, which she said are often cheaper than regular schools. “College is expensive, and I don’t have that inheritance,” she added.
She said she wanted to save money so she wouldn’t have to rely on her mother too much. Vivian doesn’t live with her mother anymore, but instead moves in with three other people to save money. “People think I have a lot of money. In reality, I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend,” she said.

The beauty was on the cover of Teen Vogue’s special issue in March. Her Instagram currently has about 800,000 followers.
Speaking to The Cut , the beauty said she does not “aspire to be super rich”. She said: “I can pay for food. I have friends, a place to live and disposable income. This life is better and luckier than many people my age in Los Angeles”.
