Some sources revealed that the two stars are feeling “unsettled” when witnessing the victory of “La La Land” – the project that originally belonged to them – in the film awards season.
In early January, La La Land made history when it won 7 victories at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony. After that, the film continued to receive 14 Oscar nominations – equaling the records of two classics, All About Eve (1950) and Titanic (1997).
As the main characters in La La Land, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling both received the opportunity to compete for many different awards, including the Oscar. They were honored at the 2017 Golden Globes in the acting categories for comedy or musical films.
Emma Stone recently won the Best Actress award at the important pre-Oscar award, the SAG (Screen Actors Guild), thereby continuing to affirm her position as the number one candidate for the “best actress” award at the Academy Awards ceremony of the United States in late February.
However, the two characters Sebastian and Mia in La La Land were originally intended by director Damien Chazelle for Miles Teller and Emma Watson, respectively. Page Six’s source said that it was their demands that made the production team seek out Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
“The salary offered to Miles was $4 million, but he wanted $6 million. Watson was invited to take on the female lead role, but she refused to give a definite answer,” the source revealed.
“Then, the young British actress made some unreasonable demands, like holding a rehearsal in London. The crew tried very hard, but they eventually realized that Watson was not suitable for La La Land,” the source said.
Finally, the production team decided to approach Emma Stone and received a nod from the actress. When he learned that his familiar co-star had agreed, Ryan Gosling did not hesitate to join La La Land.
Page Six’s source said that both Miles Teller and Emma Watson are currently “venting their anger” at their representatives for not finding a way to get their roles back in La La Land, even though the initial fault was the two young actors themselves.
As for Emma Watson, another reason why she could not appear in La La Land was that she changed her agency from WWE to CAA in the middle of negotiations.
Emma Watson can’t make it to La La Land, but she’s set to appear in Disney’s blockbuster Beauty and the Beast
Finally, CAA brought Harry Potter’s “witch Hermione” to Disney’s live-action blockbuster Beauty and the Beast (2017), where she played the beautiful Belle.
Page Six’s source concluded: “Miles and Emma should blame themselves for not being able to do La La Land. Now that the musical has achieved so much success, they probably want someone to blame.”
