EX-UK PRIME MINISTER’S MAGA MAKEOVER LIZ TRUSS JOINS TUCKER CARLSON & STEVE BANNON IN A POLITICAL REALITY THAT WILL HAUNT DEMOCRACY.C1

Liz Truss — once Britain’s shortest-serving prime minister — has turned political survival into an ambitious cross-Atlantic media play. In early December 2025 she launched The Liz Truss Show on YouTube, positioning herself squarely within the Make America Great Again (MAGA) media ecosystem. Her first episodes have featured high-profile appearances, including an interview with far-right influencer Steve Bannon, and her distribution is backed by the controversial conservative platform Just the News.

Despite a modest early performance — around 10,000 subscribers and 67,000 views so far — Truss’s show is more than a political curiosity. It represents an overt attempt by a former world leader to rebuild influence by embracing a movement long seen as fractious, conspiratorial, and deeply polarizing.

Michael Savage writes for Guardian: 'Steve Bannon, Tucker Carlson and ... Liz Truss? Inside the former PM's audition for Maga.' See:

Truss’s entrance into this arena is not accidental. Just the News, led by controversial U.S. journalist John Solomon, hosts her content and provides access to a wider right-wing media network that includes figures like Steve Bannon and Tucker Carlson. This network thrives on narratives about alleged “deep state” conspiracies, censorship by mainstream media, and a world “under attack” by left-wing forces — themes Truss has echoed in her monologues.

Solomon himself has been a controversial figure, previously criticized and reviewed by outlets like The Hill for using questionable sources in high-profile political coverage. Yet his connections within the broader MAGA sphere — including appearances on platforms featuring Bannon and Carlson — provide Truss with immediate access to audiences who distrust traditional media.

According to political analysts studying the movement, her alignment with this ecosystem gives her not just visibility, but entry into a well-organized conservative media infrastructure that amplifies its own talking points across multiple channels.

While some MAGA-aligned audiences eagerly tune in, Truss’s pivot has alarmed critics on both sides of the Atlantic. Commentators warn that her adoption of hard-right messaging — which blames an amorphous “deep state” for political failures — is strikingly similar to rhetoric long popular within U.S. extremist fringes and now creeping into mainstream discourse.

Observers also note that Truss’s media persona contrasts sharply with her leadership experience in Westminster. Some analysts describe her presentation as “competent if basic,” noting that charisma and rhetorical flair — hallmarks of successful MAGA media personalities — do not automatically transfer to a British ex-PM.

Yet despite skepticism over her performance, political strategists warn against underestimating the potential impact of a global conservative media ecosystem that magnifies voices from different countries, especially when tied to politically passionate audiences seeking anti-establishment narratives.

Truss’s ambition underscores a broader phenomenon: the blending of national political identities through shared media ecosystems. Her strategy mirrors a pattern seen in recent years of political actors from outside the United States participating in — and sometimes embracing — U.S.-style populist movements that emphasize grievance, perceived victimhood, and deep institutional distrust.

Critics are quick to point out that this crossover appeals to an audience disillusioned with traditional political discourse. By adopting MAGA themes, Truss taps into a narrative that resonates with segments of the U.S. right — and, disturbingly for some analysts, parts of the U.K.’s own political right as well.

Truss’s alignment also highlights how media strategy, not just policy, increasingly shapes political relevance. In a media landscape driven by maximal engagement, controversy becomes currency — and alignment with provocative voices can offer both risk and reward.

Tucker's War Cry

As a former head of government, Truss’s reinvention presents distinct challenges to democratic norms. Her show’s embrace of polarizing themes reflects the rising prominence of media ecosystems that prioritize engagement over nuanced debate. It also raises questions about the responsibilities of former leaders when entering partisan media spaces.

Moreover, the interaction between British political figures and U.S. conservative networks hints at a growing transnational dimension to contemporary right-wing movements one where national boundaries blur, and rhetoric once considered fringe gains amplification across borders.

For critics, this development is not just political chatter. It signals a shift in how political influence is wielded and reshaped in the digital era — where former politicians can reinvent themselves not through voter mandates, but through algorithmic reach and media alliances.

Whether Truss’s gamble pays off — and what it says about the future of political messaging —remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: her MAGA audition has already rewritten the script on what former world leaders might do next — and how movements once confined to national politics now operate on a global stage.
