Convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein urged a former foreign leader to pitch Russian President Vladimir Putin on the “insight” he could provide about President Trump, emails released Wednesday by the House Oversight Committee show.
In a June 24, 2018, email exchange with former Norwegian Prime Minister Thorbjorn Jagland, who was then secretary-general of the Council of Europe, Epstein claimed to have previously advised a high-level Russian diplomat on how to deal with Trump, as he pushed for a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“I think you might suggest to Putin that Lavrov can get insight on talking to me,” Epstein wrote in his message to Jagland.
“Vitaly Churkin used to. But he died,” he continued, referring to Russia’s former ambassador to the United Nations, who died in February 2017.
“I’ll meet Lavrov’s assistant on Monday and will suggest,” Jagland wrote back on a Sunday. “Thank you for a lovely evening.”
“I’ll come to UN high level week.”
Epstein replied by touting his meetings with Churkin, and what he purportedly told him about Trump.
“Churkin was great. He understood Trump after our conversations,” the disgraced financier claimed.
“It’s not complex,” Epstein said of understanding the president. “He must be seen to get something.”
“It’s that simple.”
It’s unclear if Epstein, who died in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges, ever met with Lavrov.
Jagland did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
At Wednesday’s briefing, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt argued that the latest tranche of Epstein documents released by congressional lawmakers “prove absolutely nothing other than President Trump did nothing wrong.”
Trump charged in a Truth Social post that Democrats were trying to “deflect on how badly they’ve done on the Shutdown” by releasing the batch of Epstein emails, several of which discuss the commander in chief.
In another exchange with ex-Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, who served under former President Bill Clinton, Epstein criticized Trump’s handling of a 2018 meeting with Putin in Helsinki.
“Do the Russians have stuff on Trump? Today was appalling even by his standards,” Summers wrote in a July 16, 2018, email to Epstein.
“My email is full with similar comments. Wow,” Epstein responded the following day, describing Trump’s handling of the summit as “predictable.”
“Im sure his view is that it went super well. He thinks he has charmed his adversary. Admittedly he has no idea of the symbolism,” the dead pedophile continued.
“He has no idea of most things.”
A spokesperson for Summers did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
