Prince William has made his first mention of his brother Prince Harry in several months amid their very public feud. The brothers have reportedly not seen each other in months following a very public fall out.
During his recent trip to the UK, Harry met with his father King Charles but did not see his older sibling, the Prince of Wales. Their feud only worsened when Harry said in his explosive Netflix show with his wife Meghan in 2022 that they “lied” to protect his brother.
He said: “They were happy to lie to protect my brother” while Meghan was “fed to the wolves”. In the show, Harry also accused William’s team of lying and planting stories.
Later, Harry insisted he didn’t air his “dirty laundry” with his tell all interviews. He said: “I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear.”
Now in a new discussion with Eugene Levy on The Reluctant Traveller With Eugene Levy, when he was asked about his son becoming King, he made his first mention of his brother Harry in a number of months following their very public spat.
“It’s an interesting question and it’s a big question that one. Because there’s lots of things to think about with that. But obviously, I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better. That is caveated with, I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past, that Harry and I had to grow up in – and I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation,” she said.
When Eugene added that the monarchy will be shifting in a slightly different direction, William added: “I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda. Change for good. And I embrace that and I enjoy that change – I don’t fear it. That’s the bit that excites me, is the idea of being able to bring some change. Not overly radical change, but changes that I think that need to happen.”
Whilst Harry has spoken openly about his brother, including in his memoir Spare, William has remained tight lipped about his brother and their feud. In his memoir, he claimed the pair had a physical fight.
Of what happened, he alleged he offered William a glass of water before the situation escalated. He wrote in his book: “He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast.
“He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
