FOXBOROUGH — Rookie quarterback Drake Maye may have just thrown the biggest touchdown of his young career — and it didn’t happen on the field.

Drake Maye's winning mindset is all too familiar for Patriots fans

In a heartfelt press conference on Friday morning, the New England Patriots star announced that he is donating $5 million from his rookie signing bonus to build a community housing and support center for immigrants and homeless families in the Foxborough area.

The new initiative — called the “Second Chance Center” — will include 200 housing units, 400 temporary beds, and a free sports and mentorship program for local youth. Construction is set to begin in early 2026.

“No one should have to face that kind of struggle alone,” Maye said, his voice trembling slightly. “This community welcomed me with open arms. Now it’s my turn to give something back.”

Maye, 23, said the idea came after he met several homeless families while volunteering at a local shelter during the Patriots’ bye week.

“I realized that football success means nothing if you don’t use it to lift someone else up,” he added.

The announcement has drawn praise from across the NFL and beyond. Patriots owner Robert Kraft called Maye’s gesture “one of the most selfless acts” he’s seen in his decades with the organization.

“He’s not just our quarterback — he’s the kind of person every franchise dreams of having,” Kraft said.

Social media exploded with support, with fans hailing Maye as “the heart New England needed.”

Even former Patriots legends like Julian Edelman and Devin McCourty chimed in online, praising Maye’s humility and leadership.

As the NFL season heats up, one thing is clear: Drake Maye’s impact is reaching far beyond the gridiron.

“Wins come and go,” he said with a small smile. “But people — they’re forever.”
