Virginia Giuffre, Epstein Whistleblower Who Accused Prince Andrew of Sexual Abuse, Dies by Suicide at 41

Virginia Giuffre spent most of her life fighting for justice — not only for herself but for countless other survivors of sexual abuse. But in the end, her family says, the price may have been too high.

“The world has lost a courageous warrior,” her family said after confirming her death by suicide at age 41. “She wanted justice for every survivor. That’s who she was.”

Giuffre — one of the most outspoken accusers of convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell — was found dead at her farm in Neergabby, outside Perth, Australia, on Thursday, April 24. Police confirmed the following day that first responders arrived to find a 41-year-old woman unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. Early findings suggest the death was not suspicious, though detectives continue to investigate.

Her brother Sky Roberts was reportedly with her when she passed. “We’ve lost our sister,” said Amanda, fighting tears. “Her children lost their mother, and her mother lost a daughter. She was one of the most beautiful souls you could ever meet — but sometimes the burden just became too heavy.”

Just weeks before her death, Giuffre had publicly accused her husband, Robert Giuffre, of domestic abuse after 22 years of marriage. In a statement, she said:

“I was able to fight back against Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein — the people who abused and trafficked me. But I couldn’t escape the domestic violence in my marriage until recently. After my husband’s latest attack, I can’t stay silent anymore.”

Giuffre had reported the alleged assault to Dunsborough police in January, though her husband was never charged. His lawyer said he was unable to comment due to ongoing court proceedings in Australia.

Her family said Virginia and Robert had been separated since August 2023. The couple shared three children, aged 19, 16, and 15.

Virginia first came into the public eye in 2010, when she spoke out as a victim of Epstein — who died in jail at 66 in 2019 — and Maxwell, 63, now serving a prison sentence for sex trafficking. In 2021, Giuffre filed a civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew, claiming the royal forced her to have sex with him three times between 1999 and 2002 — in London, New York, and on Epstein’s private Caribbean island. The case was settled out of court in February 2022 for an undisclosed sum.

Amanda, her close friend and chosen sister, believes the trauma Virginia carried for decades finally became unbearable. “When you’ve lived through what she lived through, it doesn’t end when the lawsuits end,” she said. “She was still fighting — against physical pain, emotional pain, and everything she’d endured since childhood.”

“She loved her children fiercely,” Amanda added. “They were always in her heart. I just want them to know that.”

The family now plans to continue Virginia’s legacy through her non-profit, Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (SOAR), which supports survivors of sexual assault.

“We’ll do everything in our power to continue her mission — to protect and empower survivors around the world,” Amanda said.
