The San Francisco 49ers may be in the midst of their offseason, but head coach Kyle Shanahan and star linebacker Fred Warner are stepping into the spotlight once again. On February 4, NBC Sports officially announced that the dynamic duo from the Niners will serve as guest analysts on the Super Bowl LX pregame show, bringing their expertise to one of football’s biggest stages.

Shanahan and Warner will join a star-studded panel that includes former Los Angeles Rams standout and Super Bowl champion Aaron Donald, as well as Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward. This powerhouse group promises to deliver insightful breakdowns and commentary ahead of the big game.
The pregame show will be led by Maria Taylor in her debut as the primary host, alongside Jac Collinsworth and Noah Eagle. The core analyst team features Super Bowl winners Tony Dungy, Jason Garrett, Rodney Harrison, and Devin McCourty, rounded out by former NFL quarterback Chris Simms. Additional voices include NBC Sports insider Mike Florio, NBC News analyst Steve Kornacki, fantasy and betting expert Matthew Berry, and Access Hollywood’s Kit Hoover.

While the 49ers’ season ended short of another Super Bowl appearance, Warner has been active during Super Bowl week, making media rounds that likely contributed to his selection for the panel. In a February 3 appearance on “Up & Adams,” Warner provided an encouraging injury update as he gears up for the 2026 NFL season. “120 percent,” he told host Kay Adams. “I feel great. Best I’ve ever been.”
Warner also revealed he was on the verge of returning late in the playoffs. He had resumed practice before the divisional round against the Seattle Seahawks and confirmed he could have played if the Niners advanced to the NFC Championship. “I actually think I surprised myself throughout the healing process with how quickly I did heal from this injury because it’s one of those ones,” Warner explained. “It looks horrific when it happens. It was honestly like a fear of mine. I had seen that happen to other people, and I’m like, oh, my gosh, it looks horrible. But surprisingly, once they put it all back together after surgery, and then you start getting into rehab, you start feeling way better and getting that range of motion back, the strength back, and you really pop back pretty quick. So it was very true that I could have played.”
In another media spot with NBC Sports Bay Area on February 3, Warner sent a clear message to the 49ers’ new defensive coordinator, Raheem Morris, emphasizing the team’s readiness to elevate their game. “That we’re ready to work, man,” Warner said. “It’s not a bunch of guys who are set in their ways at all. I’m going into year nine, and I’m ready to learn and adapt to whatever he’s giving to us. So, we’re all ready to work, we’re all hungry to get back to being dominant and give ourselves a chance to win a Super Bowl.”

Fans can catch the Super Bowl LX Pregame Show live on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, with “Road to the Super Bowl” kicking off at noon ET. This announcement not only highlights Shanahan and Warner’s prominence in the league but also underscores the 49ers’ ongoing relevance, even in the offseason.
