We continue into the Garden State of New Jersey as Rivals was on hand for the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) state championships and got to see some of the state’s top talents go at it. Who were the best players for the 2025 season, though?

The three-star senior athlete helped lift the Glassboro Panthers to the Public Group 1 state championship, capping what ended up being an undefeated 14-0 season. What was impressive about it, however, was that Sabb was just under the 1,000-yard plateau in both the rushing and receiving department for Glassboro. Every week, the offensive dynamo was making plays all over for the Panthers and proved himself worthy of being the state’s Offensive Player of the Year as he had the numbers to back it up. Sabb on the ground rushed for 823 yards on just 65 carries and scored 14 touchdowns. Through the passing game, Sabb hauled in 53 passes for 916 yards and scored 12 times. Arguements can be made for several others, but looking at Sabb’s body of work, he did it all the way through the season and it culminated with a state title.

Another player from Glassboro winning an award? With the type of numbers Brandon Simmons Jr. was posting on the defensive side of the ball, it’s difficult to really see this honor going any other way. Simmons Jr., who is signed with Eastern Michigan, dominated in the trenches for the Panthers as they made their run to the Public Group 1 state crown. As Sabb did on the offensive side of the ball, Simmons Jr. did so on the defensive end for Glassboro. The 6-foot-1, 260 defensive tackle tallied 110 tackles, 41 of those went for a loss and 30 sacks. We also considered Hun School’s Luke Wafle here, who also had a huge campaign for the Raiders, but we went with Simmons Jr. here as his totals ranked among not only the best in the state of New Jersey. According to MaxPreps, Simmons Jr. is No. 1 in the country in the sack department.

It wasn’t Bergen Catholic or Don Bosco Prep holding the NJSIAA Non-Public A state championship when it was all said and done. It was Augie Hoffmann and the St. Joseph Regional Green Knights hoisting the trophy at MetLife Stadium when it was all said and done, solidifying his team’s spot as the No. 1 team in the state of New Jersey. After starting the season off 4-0, Hoffmann’s bunch lost two in a row to St. Peter’s Prep and Don Bosco Prep by a combined four points. Instead of going into any sort of rut, Hoffmann and his staff righted the ship and kept the players focused on the task at hand and that was winning the state’s highest honor out of the NJSIAA. St. Joseph Regional later on defeated Bergen Catholic in a 43-42 thriller, which really proved to be the turning point in the season. Hoffmann then in the playoffs guided his team to wins over both St. Peter’s Prep and Don Bosco Prep, avenging both regular season losses in the process.
