A 97-year-old grandmother’s deep knowledge of the Golden State Warriors has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention — and a personal response from Stephen Curry himself.

The moment began with a TikTok video posted by Justine (@hihellojustine), who captured her grandmother, Carmen Katindoy, calmly watching a Warriors game with a notebook resting on her lap. Inside the notebook were handwritten notes listing every Warriors player alongside their jersey numbers. What seemed like a small family moment quickly turned into an internet sensation, amassing nearly 250,000 views.

In the video, Justine flips through the notebook and praises her grandmother’s dedication. She then quizzes Carmen on specific jersey numbers. Without hesitation, Carmen correctly identifies No. 21 as Quinten Post and No. 61 as Pat Spencer, impressing viewers with her accuracy and composure.

“Oh, you know your people,” Justine says in the clip — a line that resonated with fans across social media.

According to Justine, the notebook is nothing new. Speaking exclusively afterward, she explained that her grandmother has been doing this for years.

“My grandma is a huge Warriors fan,” Justine said. “She watches every single game and has been writing down all of the players and their numbers in her little notebook for a long time.”

During games, Carmen uses the notebook as a reference to confirm which player is on screen, treating each broadcast with the same attentiveness as a student studying for an exam. Justine, a nurse practitioner, said she decided to post the videos simply because she found the habit endearing — especially given her grandmother’s age.

Another video further showcased Carmen’s familiarity with the roster. When asked about No. 2, she immediately answered Brandin Podziemski and even mimicked his signature curly hair. When prompted to name her favorite player, her answer was instant and decisive: Stephen Curry.

That detail helped push the videos even further. Viewers flooded the comments section tagging the Warriors and Curry, urging the team to acknowledge Carmen’s devotion. Within days, the clips had circulated well beyond TikTok, eventually reaching the Warriors organization.

Curry responded with a video message shared on the team’s official Instagram account.

“Hey Grandma Carmen, we just want to say thank you so much for the love and support — and for following us every step of the way,” Curry said. “We want to wish you a happy 97th birthday. Thanks for being the biggest Warriors fan out there, and we hope we keep making you proud.”

The message had an immediate impact.

“She was shocked and ecstatic,” Justine said. “Stephen Curry is her favorite Warrior of all time. She loves watching him play, so getting a personal message from him was incredibly special.”

Carmen later recorded a short video of her own in response, affectionately referring to Curry as her “best Warrior.”

The story struck a chord not only because of Carmen’s age, but because of the sincerity behind her fandom. In an era often dominated by hot takes and online debates, her quiet routine — watching every game, studying the roster, and supporting the team consistently — stood out.

Justine said what surprised her most was the reaction from strangers online.

“It was really heartwarming,” she said. “People who had never met my grandma were rooting for the Warriors to notice her. Seeing that kindness, and then seeing it actually happen, was overwhelming.”

For Curry, the response was another example of his long-standing connection with the Warriors fan base, which spans generations. For Carmen, it was validation that her dedication — handwritten notes and all — had not gone unnoticed.

Beyond basketball, Justine hopes the moment encourages others to spend time with their loved ones.

“Go visit your grandparents,” she said. “Call them. Sit with them. Watch a game together. Ask them about their lives and record it. You won’t regret it.”

What began as a casual TikTok video has now become a reminder of the enduring bond between athletes and fans — and of how the love for a team can bridge generations, one notebook at a time.
