An inside source revealed that coach Stephanie White had a heated argument with Indiana Fever leadership after she publicly criticized Caitlin Clark for being “used as a pawn” in the political and commercial controversies surrounding the WNBA.
According to the source, White is said to have objected to the team’s media policy, believing the Fever were not protecting their young star from public pressure and division within the league. An anonymous team employee said:
“Stephanie felt Caitlin was being pushed into a difficult position. She was blunt about the team losing its identity by allowing Clark to become a commercial icon rather than a basketball player.”
Rumors have swirled that the Fever leadership has temporarily suspended White from her role as media advisor, escalating tensions in the locker room. Some players are said to be siding with Clark, while others are “tired of it all being about her.”
The incident became even more heated after some fans discovered that Clark stopped following the team’s official Instagram account (unconfirmed).
During the supposed press conference, White reportedly said:
“If defending my players costs me my job, then so be it. I’m here to lead people, not brands.”
Experts say this could be “the biggest rift within the Indiana Fever since Clark joined the team.”
Some analysts believe that if the conflict is not resolved, Indiana could face a crisis similar to the Angel Reese – Chicago Sky incident earlier this season.
