Philadelphia was able to snap its two-game losing streak with a very strong win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7, and the passing attack finally came alive. Right now, the Eagles are two games in the win column ahead of the teams right below them, the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders.
The New York Giants are 2-5 on the season and obviously a non-factor, but both Washington and Dallas are interesting teams. The Commanders won 12 games last year and came within one game of the Super Bowl, so they could get back on track. The Cowboys honestly feel like a better team, as they’re sporting an elite offense but a bottom-tier defense.
If Dallas could figure out how to get their defense playing at an average level, they could compete with Philly and make things interesting, especially considering how much Dak Prescott contributes to their success in the division. A bombshell trade report might actually give Philly a reason to worry about the Cowboys
The Cowboys might be trying to boost their defense, and that’s a scary thing
Trey Wingo reported that the Dallas Cowboys have contacted the Las Vegas Raiders about a potential trade for pass-rusher Maxx Crosby:
Crosby has been with the Raiders since being drafted back in 2019 as a fourth-round pick. He’s missed just five games across his successful NFL career and is a four-time Pro Bowler. Crosby has been on a ton of losing teams during his career and is absolutely on the backend of his prime, but he’s still one of the best at getting to the QB in the NFL.
And with the Dallas Cowboys trading Micah Parsons before the regular season, they do have a gaping hole on defense, but things really haven’t gone all that poorly for Dallas, as the offense is flat-out insane, and the Cowboys did get a ton back in the Parsons’ trade.
A hypothetical trade for Maxx Crosby would not deplete Dallas’ draft capital, and it would also give that defense a much-needed boost. A team potentially sporting an elite offense and even just an average defense like Dallas could would make for a very good football team.
The Cowboys being able to pull this deal off would be a wake-up call that the Eagles simply can’t sleep-walk their way to another division title, and it would make Dallas a formidable team overall.
