PITTSBURGH, PA — The script couldn’t have been written any wilder.
Moments before kickoff, reports surfaced that Aaron Rodgers had suffered a minor pregame injury scare during warmups — sending a ripple of panic through the stadium. But as the football gods love their drama, it was the Pittsburgh Steelers who took the real hit.
Veteran left guard Isaac Seumalo, a cornerstone of the Steelers’ offensive line, went down in the first quarter with an apparent lower-body injury — his second setback in as many weeks. Trainers helped him off the field, and he was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game.
For an offense already struggling with consistency, losing Seumalo again looked like a death sentence. But instead of folding, Pittsburgh’s resilience shone through.
Behind a tough defensive stand led by T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick, the Steelers weathered the storm, forcing two turnovers and capitalizing with short-field scores. Quarterback Kenny Pickett managed the game efficiently, while running backs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren combined for over 120 yards on the ground.
“We don’t blink,” head coach Mike Tomlin said postgame. “We lose guys, we adjust. That’s the Steeler way.”
Meanwhile, Rodgers — who appeared to tweak his calf during warmups — played through the discomfort but never looked fully comfortable. His timing was off, his mobility limited, and Pittsburgh’s defense took full advantage, recording three sacks and multiple pressures.
Seumalo’s absence, though, remains a growing concern. The veteran has been one of the few stabilizing forces on a young offensive line, and early indications suggest he could miss additional time.
“It’s tough losing a leader like that,” said Harris. “He sets the tone for us up front.”
Despite the adversity, Pittsburgh closed the game with a classic fourth-quarter defensive stand, sealing a hard-fought victory that left Acrisure Stadium roaring.
