With the NFL trade deadline just around the corner, rumors and speculation surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers have been running rampant throughout the Steel City.
With several concerns on both sides of the ball — especially given the defensive struggles and offensive injuries early this season — the Steelers could theoretically target any playmaker ahead of the NFL deadline.
As we inch closer to the date when NFL teams pull off some of the biggest trades of the year, take a look at some of the latest news, rumors, and speculation on potential Steelers targets and current players who could soon be traded out of Pittsburgh.
Steelers’ trade deadline rumors, news
Here is the latest look at all the rumors, news, speculation, and reports surrounding Pittsburgh as the NFL trade deadline rapidly approaches.
Report: trade target WR Jakobi Meyers says he still wants out of Las Vegas
Meyers, who requested a trade in August, claimed that his request to leave the Raiders still stands — leaving Steelers fans excited about a potential interest from Pittsburgh.
“Oh, for sure,” Meyers said via ESPN’s Ryan McFadden. “But I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football. If I’m here, I’ll play good football. If I’m not here, I’ll go out there and play wherever I’m supposed to be.”
Rumor: Steelers targeting wide receiver
Both ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Pittsburgh is likely to target a wide receiver ahead of the trade deadline in the coming weeks — but who still remains a complete mystery.
Rumor: Steelers to avoid defensive trades
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac, the Steelers are unlikely to target any defensive players at the NFL trade deadline — barring any unforeseen injuries, of course.
