NFL legend Tom Brady has made it clear: the Kansas City Chiefs are not done yet. After weeks of inconsistency and a slide that nearly pushed them out of his top 10, Brady officially announced a significant change in his Week 12 power rankings — and Chiefs fans finally have something to celebrate.
During his weekly segment on the Let’s Go! podcast, Brady broke down his updated rankings and explained why Kansas City earned a noticeable bump following their recent performance. The seven-time Super Bowl champion acknowledged that while the Chiefs have struggled offensively throughout the season, their latest showing proved they still possess the traits of a championship-caliber team.
“People have been doubting the Chiefs all year,” Brady said. “But great teams respond. They showed resilience, toughness, and the ability to win in close, ugly games. That matters more in November and December than blowing out teams in September.”
Just last week, Brady drew attention when he dropped Kansas City dangerously close to the edge of his top 10 — a rare standpoint from someone who has consistently praised the Patrick Mahomes–Andy Reid dynasty. At the time, the NFL icon pointed to sloppy offensive execution, inconsistent wide receiver play, and late-game mistakes as reasons for concern.
But in Week 12, Brady felt the Chiefs rediscovered something crucial: identity.
“They’re not as explosive as they used to be,” he said. “But they’re smarter, more disciplined, and they’re winning with defense. That’s new for Kansas City — and honestly, it’s impressive.”
Brady highlighted the Chiefs’ ability to control the tempo, avoid costly turnovers, and tighten up in the red zone as the key reasons behind their rise. He also praised Mahomes for showing leadership despite lacking the pure offensive firepower he enjoyed in past seasons.
“You don’t need the flashiest offense to win championships,” Brady added. “You need the most dependable one. Mahomes is figuring out how to do more with less, and that’s a skill every elite quarterback learns eventually.”
The Chiefs’ climb in Brady’s rankings instantly sparked debate across social media. Some fans agreed, calling Kansas City’s Week 12 performance a turning point. Others argued that Brady was giving the team too much credit based on reputation rather than results.
Still, analysts widely acknowledge that if the Chiefs can string together consistent performances down the stretch, they will remain one of the most dangerous teams entering the postseason.
As Brady put it:
