A harrowing final letter written by Prince Andrew’s sex abuse accuser has been released by her family – after they insisted: “Her voice will not be silenced.”
The handwritten note was made public by relatives just days after she was found dead at her farmhouse in Perth.
Virginia’s brother Danny Wilson shared a photo showing her with older brother Sky. Danny posted this picture alongside a tribute to his sister Virginia.
A young Virginia was pictured with Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
The family shared a picture of Virginia’s handwritten note. It is believed she took her own life after years of torment.
The letter reads:
“Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, and Brothers need to show the battle lines are drawn, and stand together to fight for the future of victims.
Is protesting the answer?
I don’t know. But we’ve got to start somewhere.”
The letter was posted online by her sister-in-law Amanda Roberts, who vowed to carry on her legacy in the wake of her apparent suicide. She uploaded a snapshot of the letter alongside a tribute pledging to fight on.
She said:
“Hello world. We found a handwritten note that our sister Virginia wrote.
I think it’s important that the survivors know that she’s with you and her voice will not be silenced.
I know that it’s so important, and her wish is that we continue to fight.
Her words are: ‘Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, and Brothers need to show the battle lines are drawn, and stand together to fight for the future of victims.
Is protesting the answer? I don’t know. But we’ve got to start somewhere.’
To all survivors and those protesting. We stand with you in solidarity and know the fight is not over!”
Her family said they are determined to carry on her work for survivors of sex abuse after revealing the toll of abuse became unbearable for the mother-of-three.
It comes as her brother Danny Wilson posted photographs showing him, Virginia, and their brother Sky in happier times.
Giuffre passed away on April 25. Her family says the toll of abuse became too much for her.
Her family wrote that this was the message accompanying the picture of the letter.
Who was Virginia Giuffre?
Virginia Roberts – later Virginia Giuffre, 41 – was an American-Australian campaigner and a prominent victim of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking ring. She made claims against Prince Andrew and Ghislaine Maxwell. Giuffre alleged in court documents that she was procured by Maxwell as a teenage “sex slave” for Epstein. She released a manuscript just hours before Epstein’s death, which added to more than 2,000 documents of a lawsuit pending against the former financier and his associates.
Virginia Roberts claimed that she had sex with Prince Andrew in a toilet when she was 17, after a night where he had allegedly been plying her with vodka in a London club. On February 15, 2022, it was announced that Prince Andrew settled the lawsuit, sparing him a court battle.
The images showed them on a sofa and making gestures in another. Danny was in Australia weeks before her death offering support before Sky flew in to take over. The pair are said to be distraught by her death.
Amanda Roberts wrote:
“I hope you’re dancing, my beautiful sister. We miss you with all our heart and soul. Rest now, angel, we will carry your legacy!”
Virginia, 41, was found unresponsive at her remote home north of Perth on Friday night after the alarm was raised. Police raced to the scene but were unable to revive her. Officers spent 12 hours at the property collecting evidence before arranging for her body to be moved.
Her lawyer, Karrie Louden, said there were “no signs” that she wanted to end her life in the days and weeks before. She said her client was planning for the future and had even scheduled a legal meeting.
Ms Louden said:
“We’ve got big question marks over it.
There’s suicide and then there’s misadventure.
Has she just taken too many painkillers? Was she intentionally doing it? I don’t even know what the cause of death was.
The family said what the family has said, but I’m not going to speculate whether it was suicide or accidental.
She was in a lot of pain but she was looking forward to things in the future.
I was here this time last week and things were positive.
I don’t like to speculate about things. I like beyond reasonable doubt.”
Police have since launched a probe led by major crime detectives as well as the coroner. But Ms Louden said it was possible “we will never know” what happened.
She said:
“The police were very vague. I know that she’s gone but how that happened, I don’t know.
I’m not sure we’ll ever know. The coroner might say it was suicide, misadventure, or inconclusive.”
Ms Giuffre accused the Duke of York of sexual abuse on three occasions, including when she was 17, after being trafficked by Epstein. Epstein was found dead in his prison cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial.
Prince Andrew denied the accusations but later paid her a reported £12 million in an out-of-court settlement. He has not spoken publicly since her death.
