Yoshinobu Yamamoto — the main pitcher of the Los Angeles Dodgers — just shared some very personal and emotional news: he has adopted a rescue dog named Carlos. Yamamoto posted the news on social media, along with intimate photos and a video of the first time he met Carlos at a pet shelter, leaving fans emotional.

In his Instagram post, Yamamoto wrote:
“Meet Carlos. I met him at a dog shelter last August … He’s gentle and loves a slow life. He loves naps, walks and eating good food. I’m really happy my Carlitos is with me now.”
Carlos was adopted by Yamamoto from the organization Best Friends LA, where the dog became a “beloved face” at the shelter before being brought home with the Dodgers superstar.
This dog is not the only “pet member” of the Japanese Dodgers’ team. Yamamoto shared photos of Carlos in everyday moments – walks, relaxing naps, or simply enjoying a snack – and affirmed that “it’s a blessing to have Carlos as part of the family.”
The update comes at the perfect time: Yamamoto has just successfully defended his World Series title with the Dodgers, and sharing his life outside the field like this helps fans understand more about the person who is also a successful player.
Yamamoto has previously revealed his big goal for next season: to continue winning championships with the team, solidifying his position as the number one star in the Dodgers’ pitching force.
Nurturing Carlos as a “second family” can be a valuable mental therapy for the young pitcher, helping to balance the pressure of competition and maintain mental stability.
By sharing this warm and affectionate image of Carlos, Yamamoto not only melted baseball fans’ hearts, but also established himself as a compassionate human being — a very different image off the field, but no less powerful and inspiring.
